NIA Easter Offering

Our Easter Offering supports our NIA Capital Campaign. See below for a letter from the Executive Director.

“I love how everybody at Neighbors in Action cares for my children. They have learned so much about Jesus and God’s love for them. They even lead prayers at home. I myself am part of the women’s Bible study. In my four years in this group, I have learned so much about self-esteem, healthy marriage, how to be the mother God intended me to be, and how to manage my finances with the little we have. I can see big changes in the ladies that have come to this group, and also changes in my marriage! It has also inspired me to become a leader within in the community and be more aware of God’s calling in my life.”

- Maria (NIA Mom)

Children have incredible potential. They inspire me because they are ready to seize life with both hands, if they can just get a chance. But in some parts of our city, there are children who never get that sort of opportunity.

Port Houston is such a neighborhood – the poverty level is high, and opportunities to advance seem to be missing. As a mother of two girls myself, I am heartbroken to witness how many children in this community are given a rough start to life, and how much harder it is for them to catch up with their peers and become successful.

But this is something we have the power to change! Through your generous support in the past, you’ve shown that you understand the importance of helping children and families in need. We are so grateful for your partnership. I know it’s important to you that your support is making a real impact, so here is what Maria, a Port Houston mom, has to say about Neighbors in Action:

“I love how everybody at Neighbors in Action cares for my children. They have learned so much about Jesus and God’s love for them. They even lead prayers at home. I myself am part of the women’s Bible study. In my four years in this group, I have learned so much about self-esteem, healthy marriage, how to be the mother God intended me to be, and how to manage my finances with the little we have. I can see big changes in the ladies that have come to this group, and also changes in my marriage! It has also inspired me to become a leader within in the community and be more aware of God’s calling in my life.”

Neighbors in Action is changing lives in Port Houston, but we need your support! As you know, we are in the middle of a $1,300,000 capital campaign. Currently NIA is housed in a 1,200 square-foot rented house in the heart of the Port Houston neighborhood. Our plans to build our own 3,500 square-foot center would allow NIA to triple the number of people served on a regular basis. Additionally, we could finally host multiple types of programming at one time; for example, having both adult education and children’s Bible Study on the same night. The new center will also function as a warm and inviting space for fellowship and community gatherings.

Your gift this Easter is vital to our plans to grow the Kingdom. With your help, we will continue to share God’s love and build our Neighbors in Action family. And the best part: Your donation will be matched! The Mabee Foundation has given us a Challenge Grant of $100k for 2019. If NIA reaches $1,100,000 in gifts to the Campaign by the end of the year, Mabee will contribute an additional $100k. Currently, we have received gifts and pledges to be paid in 2019 totaling $880,000, so we need to raise an additional $220,000 to receive the challenge grant. Can you help us build this new center?

To make your Easter offering, please leave your check at the church, or make a donation online at www.neighborsinaction.com.

You can also make your donation through your Realm account.
