PREPARING FOR HURRICANES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Planning for hurricane season and other potential disasters can be stressful, and because the 2020 hurricane season comes during the COVID-19 pandemic, it may be especially so.

Public health and emergency response professionals have advice to help you safely prepare, evacuate, and shelter for severe storms while protecting yourself and others from COVID-19.

KNOW YOUR
EVACUATION ZONE

Many kinds of emergencies can cause you to have to evacuate. In some cases, you may have a day or two to prepare while other situations might call for an immediate evacuation. Planning is vital to making sure that you can evacuate quickly and safely no matter what the circumstances.

MAKE A PLAN:
CREATE A FAMILY DISASTER PLAN.

Sit down together and decide how you will get in contact with each other, where you will go, and what you will do in an emergency. You should do this with household and extended family members.
